Umbra Systems was founded by a team of experienced, dedicated engineers based in Manchester, England. Having recognised the flaws and impracticalities of cloud storage providers, Umbra set out to revolutionise the sector by offering a clever solution to data vulnerability, uptime and security.

Umbra is backed by experienced industry CIOs who see the importance of making a change to the way we store data in the cloud, and it's technology is endorsed by a former Royal Navy Cryptographer and Professor of Cyber-Security Simon Shepherd.

Recently Umbra was announced as a project lead as part of the UKRI's £62 million telecoms research boost, due to the technology's expected impact on telecoms and cloud storage.

Umbra is a member of the North West Cyber Security Cluster and the Greater Manchester Digital Security Hub.

Umbra is best known for its flagship product ShadowStream™. This service helps to keep data safe, secure, and accessible by splitting it up into seven "Shadows".
